Construction Work Set to Begin on Yonge Street

The City of Toronto's Works and Emergency Services will be resurfacing Yonge
Street from St. Clair Avenue to Roxborough Street East and replacing sidewalks,
curbs and gutters at this location and from Eglinton Avenue to north of
Roehampton Avenue.

The sidewalk, curb and gutter work will begin in early November, 2000 and
continue until mid-December, 2000. The road resurfacing project will take
place from the end of April, 2001 until mid-May, 2001.

The work will proceed in two stages with one-half of the roadway closed for
construction and the other half used for traffic in both directions.
Throughout the duration of the project, at least one lane of traffic will be
open in each direction at all times.

Access to bus and subway stops, businesses, churches and residences will be
maintained at all times.
