City of Toronto to fill Council vacancy, Ward 6, North York Humber
  
On January 18th, 2000, North York Community Council will consider the
appointment of a candidate to fill the vacant office of Ward 6, North York
Humber, for the term ending November 30, 2000. The meeting will be held in the
Community Council Chamber, North York Civic Centre, 5100 Yonge Street at 7
p.m. City Council will consider the matter and make its decision on the
appointment at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 2, 2000, in the Council Chamber,
Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen Street West.

Interested candidates must attend an information session on either Tuesday,
January 11, 2000 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. or Wednesday, January 12, 2000, from 12
noon to 2 p.m. in the Community Council Chamber, North York Civic Centre.
Application forms will be available only to those who attend an information
session. To be qualified for appointment a candidate must be at least 18 years
of age, a Canadian citizen, and a resident, owner or tenant of land in the City
of Toronto, or the spouse of such an owner or tenant.

Candidates must complete a form of "consent" if chosen by Council, and a
"statement of qualification." Personal information submitted by applicants may
be made available to the public under the provisions of the Municipal Freedom
of Information Act and the Protection of Privacy Act.
