City of Toronto to recognize taxi industry at first-ever Taxi Roadeo and Festival
On Sunday, May 7th, members of the media are invited to join City of Toronto
representatives, dignitaries and taxicab industry members at the first-ever
Toronto Taxi Roadeo & Festival at Ontario Place.

The Roadeo & Festival is just one of the many events the City of Toronto has
planned throughout the month of May, which has been proclaimed Taxi
Appreciation Month by Mayor Mel Lastman, to recognize and celebrate Toronto's
taxicab industry.

The Roadeo & Festival will offer a great day of fun for members of the taxicab
industry and their families. The fun begins at 9 a.m. and will be non-stop
until 5 p.m. There will be lots of great entertainment, delicious foods,
children's activities and an exciting driving roadeo.

Highlights of the day include a taxi parade, which begins at 9:30 a.m.,
followed by the Taxi Roadeo Kick-off at 10 a.m. and the day will wrap up with
an awards presentation at 4 p.m., for which Councillor Joan King will be Master
of Ceremonies.

The Roadeo & Festival is supported by many corporate sponsors, including Ford
Motor Company, Enbridge Consumers Gas, Baird MacGregor Insurance Brokers Inc.,
MasterCard Canada, Coffee Time Donuts Inc., H & S Fleet Services Inc. and The
International Plaza Hotel & Conference Centre.
