Media Advisory - City of Toronto to Host Second Annual Children's Summit
  
The City of Toronto's second annual Children's Summit, chaired by Councillor
Sherene Shaw, will take place on Friday, September 29, 2000 from 9:30 a.m. to
1:30 p.m. at Toronto City Hall. The theme of this year's summit is a place for
every child - the National Children's Agenda.

Attending as an honoured special guest will be the Honourable Jane Stewart,
federal Minister of Human Resources Development, who will address the summit
and receive a children's flag.

Jane Jenson of the Université de Montréal and the Canadian Policy Research
Network will give the Children's Summit 2000 keynote address, to be followed by
a panel discussion moderated by Councillor Olivia Chow, Children and Youth
Advocate, and Chair of the Children and Youth Action Committee. Panel
participants are scheduled to include Anne Golden, president of the United Way
of Greater Toronto, Marvyn Novick, professor of social work at Ryerson
Polytechnic University and Michael Valpy of The Globe and Mail.
