Construction Work on Yonge Street Postponed

Work to replace sidewalks, curbs and gutters on Yonge Street from St. Clair
Avenue to Roxborough Street East will be completed in the spring of 2001.

Road resurfacing on Yonge Street from St. Clair Avenue to Roxborough Street
East will take place as originally planned from the end of April, 2001 until
mid-May, 2001.

All sidewalks that have been excavated will be completed, including the
placement of interlocking stones. All other repairs will be done in the spring
of 2001. Those who have decorative tiles that were damaged as part of the
sidewalk work should store these tiles until the work resumes in 2001.

The use of chemical de-icing agents such as salt, calcium and urea on the new
sidewalks before 2001 may not allow the new concrete sidewalks to reach full
strength. Alternative substances include pure sand and kitty litter.
