City of Toronto -- snow clearing update

The City of Toronto's winter operations crews worked through the night as
Toronto received its second snowstorm in three days.

Salt trucks began the operation at 9 p.m. last night followed by snow plows,
which were called into service at about 1:30 a.m.

Major roads and collector routes have been plowed and salted. Plows began
plowing local side streets following the morning rush hour.

"Since we were able to get the plows out early, the morning rush hour appeared
to move quite safely and efficiently," said Gary Welsh, Director,
Transportation Services, City of Toronto.
