City celebrates millennium babies' first birthday

On New Year's Day, Toronto's millennium babies will be one year old, and the
City will celebrate the occasion with a special birthday party.

Councillor Chris Korwin-Kuczynski (Ward 14, Parkdale-High Park), the Chair of
the City's Millennium Committee, will present 21 babies born in the City of
Toronto on January 1, 2000 with gifts donated by Birks and Ty Canada.

The event takes place at noon on Monday, January 1, 2001 in the Council Chamber
Members' Lounge, City Hall, 100 Queen Street West. Guests will enjoy birthday
cake and a 15-minute performance by children's entertainer Lenny Graf.

Gifts from Birks are silver-plated children's coffee mugs embossed with teddy
bears.Ty Canada, the Canadian supplier of beanie babies, will provide each of
the babies with "baby pals", small, plush, pastel-coloured animal figures,
including cows, bears and elephants.
