Options for New Community Councils Released

A City of Toronto report presenting 49 options for new community councils was
released today as part of a process to re-establish community councils based on
the new 44 wards.

The options, each consisting of a map and community council profile, were
developed from input the City received during a month of consultations. The
City held a series of public open meetings. Each option had to meet a set of
principles set by Toronto City Council.

The City's Administration Committee will consider each of the proposed options
at its June 13 meeting and make recommendations to City Council.

Community councils are committees of City Council that consider local issues at
the community level and provide a forum for local input into City Council's
decision-making.

The public can make deputations to the Administration Committee or submit
written comments by either contacting or forwarding their comments to Brenda
Sears, Administration Committee, City Clerk's Office, Main Floor, West Tower,
City Hall, 100 Queen Street West, Toronto, Ontario, M5H 2N2. Telephone:
416-932-6627. Fax: 416-392-2883.

For further information or to obtain a copy of the report, the public can visit
the City's Web site or contact Bonita Pietrangelo, City Clerk's Office at 416-395-7340.
