City of Toronto Announces Finalists for Toronto Book Awards
  
Councillor Kyle Rae on behalf of the City of Toronto and the Toronto Book
Awards Committee invite the media to attend the announcement of the shortlist
finalists for the 2000 Toronto Book Awards in the Member's Lounge on Wednesday,
September 6 at 12 noon.

The City will also proclaim September 6 as International Literacy Day and the
re-affirmation of International Literacy Decades from 1990 to 2010. The City
continues to work with its community partners towards its commitment to
eliminate illiteracy.

The Toronto Book Awards honours authors of books that are evocative of Toronto.
The winner of the Toronto Book Awards will be announced at the Word On The
Street festival on September 24.
