Good News! Gardiner Expressway (Humber River to York Street) Re-Opens Early

The Gardiner Expressway eastbound from the Humber River to York Street will
re-open at 5:00 p.m. today and remain open for the balance of the weekend. At
9:00 p.m., the westbound Gardiner between York Street and the Humber River will
re-open and remain open for the balance of the weekend.

A combination of crews working around the clock and reduced work activity due
to an impending concrete workers strike has resulted in this segment of the
roadway being opened sooner than anticipated.

This is good news for Maple Leafs fans, Blue Jays fans, Raptors fans and those
attending the National Home Show and other activities in the downtown core.

"Although it is unfortunate we are unable to complete all the work at this
time, we are pleased that we could open the Gardiner Expressway earlier so that
people can come downtown and enjoy the activities here," says David Kaufman,
General Manager, Transportation Services, Works and Emergency Services.
