at the Announcement of the Winners of the Jane/Finch Public Art Competition.

R.S.V.P. 416-392-7667

The City of Toronto has committed funds in the year 2000 to build a public art
project in the Jane/Finch area. The City sought proposals from designers and
artists to create a unique outdoor, all-season, meeting place that will serve
as a landmark for the community. In August, five artist teams were chosen to
develop their proposals in more detail. The public art installation will be
located in the outdoor area next to the Driftwood Community Centre. This
installation is intended to promote a positive sense of community by providing
a community focal point for social interaction, celebration and special events.

The winning design, second and third prize winners will be chosen in October by
a jury composed of Toronto art and urban design professionals and community
members. The winners will be announced at the exhibition and reception at the
Driftwood Community Centre, on October 12, 2000.
