Mayor Rob Ford will lead a two-day business mission to Chicago from Tuesday, September 18 through Wednesday, September 19. The mayor's goal for the mission is to renew a partnership agreement between the two cities and to identify opportunities to grow investment, enhance the business climate and stimulate greater job growth.
"We are taking an all-star team from Toronto's business community with us to Chicago," said Mayor Ford. "Their talents, experience and insight will help us to maximize the opportunities and relationships we will be creating and building upon this week."
The two Co-Chairs of this Team Toronto initiative are George Cohon, Founder of McDonald's Restaurants of Canada, and Robert Deluce, President and CEO of Porter Airlines.
“The mission is important to solidify growing relationships and inspire new opportunities. I’m proud and excited to be a part of it,” said Cohon.
"I'm very pleased with the response from the business community to this mission. This is a real opportunity to build relationships that will ultimately benefit both cities," said Deluce.

Quotes from Team Toronto delegates:
"The renewal of the Partnership Agreement between Toronto and Chicago will mean the continuation of a friendship that has mutually benefited each city's economic development strategy and various economic sectors."
- Councillor Michael Thompson (Ward 37 Scarborough Centre), Chair, Economic Development Committee
"Over the past 120 years, Chicago has created a strong legacy of excellence in urban design, planning, architecture, waterfront development, and most recently green design. The Burnham Plan of 1909 laid the groundwork for Chicago's waterfront development, and architects like Frank Lloyd Wright, Mies van der Rohe, and Skidmore Owings Merrill made Chicago prominent on the international scene. This Mission to Chicago will provide Toronto with valuable insight and ideas, learned from Chicago's Waterfront, Architectural Preservation, creative park building, and their leadership in sustainable governance."
- Councillor Peter Milczyn (Ward 5 Etobicoke-Lakeshore), Chair, Planning and Growth Management Committee
"I'm excited to see Chicago's world class waterfront first-hand and to learn best practices in waterfront design and planning, including the use of parks, from a recognized world-leader."
- Councillor Jaye Robinson (Ward 25 Don Valley West), Executive Committee Member
"On behalf of MasterCard Canada, I am excited to participate in this mission to build long lasting connections between our two priceless sister cities - Toronto and Chicago.
