Celebrate Canadian multiculturalism day at Scarborough Museum's 50th anniversary event | | | | |
The Scarborough Museum and its cultural partners will celebrate Canadian Multiculturalism Day and the museum's 50th anniversary with an evening of music, food, history and art.
The event will take place on Wednesday, June 27 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the museum. Councillor Gary Crawford (Ward 36 Scarborough Southwest), Vice Chair of the Scarborough Community Council, will provide remarks on behalf of the City of Toronto starting at 7:30 p.m.
To celebrate Canadian Multiculturalism Day and its 50th anniversary, two special exhibits will be featured at the museum until the end of August. The first exhibit is "Destination Scarborough", which is a visual history project about immigration and was inspired by the volunteers at the Scarborough Museum who have immigrated to the area. The second exhibit is called "Impressions of Scarborough" and is a collaboration between the Scarborough Museum's youth groups and its partner InPrint Collective. This exhibit will showcase art prints inspired by the museum's artifacts and local history.
The Canadian Multiculturalism Day and the 50th anniversary of the Scarborough Museum is a Celebrate Canada event, supported by a grant from the Government of Canada through the Department of Canadian Heritage. The event's cultural partners include the Scarborough Historical Society, InPrint Collective and the museum's many volunteers including Scarborough Fare and the Adult Cultural Council.
