St. Lawrence Market presenting big food event in support of FoodShare Toronto

The City of Toronto's St. Lawrence Market will showcase its great food and give back to the community through FoodShare Toronto with an event this fall called the "St. Lawrence Mmm Market Night: An Adventure in Flavour." Tickets are available now.

During the evening event on November 8, the St. Lawrence Market's south building will be transformed with galleys of foods prepared by the south market merchants. The event will raise funds for FoodShare Toronto - a non-profit community organization that is committed to a vision of good, healthy food for all.

Market food merchants will present their best. Food served will include, for example, apple-cider-smoked salmon, vodka-smoked steelhead trout, kangaroo sliders, vegetarian black-bean tacos with salsa verde, pierogies, and the market tradition of peameal bacon sandwiches.

The evening will also feature renowned chef David Adjey, and those who attend will have an opportunity to meet Adjey.

In addition, guests will be treated to a performance called Art Battle. Accompanied by an orchestra, artists will launch into a competitive painting challenge. The paintings will later be for sale to guests attending the event.

Tickets for the St. Lawrence Mmm Market Night can be purchased from St. Lawrence Market merchants, FoodShare Toronto at http://www.foodshare.net/Tickets-StLmarketnight.htm and at the St. Lawrence Market administration office, 92 Front St. E. (north building). The $50 ticket price includes taxes, and a tax receipt will be provided for half of the ticket price.

This event is being presented with the support of St. Lawrence Market partners Citytv, Impark, The Grid, David Adjey, Art Battle, CityBites, Millstreet Brewery and FoodShare Toronto.
