New 'green' Edithvale Community Centre opening to the public
City of Toronto representatives and the councillor for Ward 23 Willowdale will join members of the local community to celebrate the opening of the brand new Edithvale Community Centre. There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the celebration will include musical performances, tours of the centre, sharing of information about the centre’s facilities and programs, and light refreshments.

Date: Saturday, October 16
Time: 1 to 3 p.m. (ceremony at 1 p.m.)
Location: Edithvale Community Centre, 131 Finch Ave. W.

Edithvale is Toronto’s first new community centre to open since 2005. The site’s design includes many green elements, such as a rainwater collection system, native species plantings, a green roof, building orientation for passive solar heat gain and the use of local and recycled materials.
