Media Advisory: Toronto EMS Paramedics win gold and silver at international medical trauma competitions
Two winning teams of the City of Toronto's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Paramedics will be honoured in a special ceremony at Toronto EMS headquarters today. Toronto EMS Chief Bruce Farr and Toronto EMS Honorary Chief, Major-General Richard Rohmer will give special recognition to two teams of Toronto EMS Paramedics for their outstanding results in recent international medical competitions.

On October 27, 2010, a Toronto EMS team won the Dutch Open Ambulance Competition after competing against over 30 teams from Europe, in Harderwijk, Holland. On November 6, 2010, a second Toronto EMS Paramedic team took silver, at the International Trauma Life Support Competition in Reno, Nevada.

Date: Tuesday, December 14

Time: 1 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Location: The Atrium, Toronto EMS headquarters, 4330 Dufferin St. Park in church parking lot off Lodestar Road and enter through Lodestar Road entrance at security.

Photo Opportunity: Toronto EMS spokespersons will be available at 1:30 p.m. after the formal presentation. As part of the formal remarks a paramedic from the winning team will narrate a presentation of the life-saving skills demonstrated during the competition in Holland.

These wins are a reflection of the world class emergency care the citizens of Toronto receive from Toronto EMS’ Emergency Medical Dispatchers and Paramedics every day. These accomplishments are a great honour to everyone in the city of Toronto.
