City to celebrate naming of Joyce Trimmer Park
Mayor David Miller, Councillor Raymond Cho (Ward 42 Scarborough-Rouge River), members of the Trimmer family and local residents will celebrate the official park naming in honour of the late Joyce Trimmer, former Mayor of Scarborough. Mrs. Trimmer was the first female mayor to be elected in the former City of Scarborough, in 1988.

Date: Thursday, July 8
Time: 10 to 11 a.m.
Ceremony: 10:15 a.m.
Location: Former McAsphalt Park, 8450 Sheppard Ave. E., Toronto

The park, formerly known as McAsphalt Park, includes a mid-sized soccer field, a weather shelter, a splash pad and a basketball half court. The ceremony will include a sign unveiling and light refreshments. Karen Trimmer, daughter of Joyce Trimmer, will be the special guest speaker.
