City of Toronto to unveil new school safety zones on first day of school
As children begin the first day of school, Mayor John Tory and Councillor Jaye Robinson (Ward 25 Don Valley West), Chair of the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee, will join Superintendent Gord Jones, Toronto Police Service, Sara Whitehead, a public health physician and road safety expert representing the Partnership for Healthy Cities and Vital Strategies and Trustee Gerri Gershon (Ward 13), Toronto District School Board, to unveil the City’s new School Safety Zones. The Zones have new features aimed at improving the safety of children walking to school and are part of the City’s $80-million Vision Zero Road Safety Plan.
