2017 Toronto Book Awards to honour finalists and winner
  
Councillor John Filion (Ward 23 Willowdale), the Mayor's Arts Advocate, will help celebrate this year's Toronto Book Awards finalists at an event hosted by CBC Radio's Gillian Deacon, with author readings and the presentation of this year's award winner.

Date: Thursday, October 12
Time: 7 to 8 p.m. – announcement of winner at 7:45 p.m.
Location: Bram and Bluma Appel Salon, Toronto Reference Library, 789 Yonge St.

Established by Toronto City Council in 1974, the Toronto Book Awards annually honour authors of books of literary or artistic merit that are evocative of Toronto.
