"Our outdoor pools, wading pools, splash pads, and beaches are the coolest places," said Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti (Ward 7 York West), Chair of the Community Development and Recreation Committee. "In 2011, about 1.6 million people took advantage of our swimming programs at our outdoor pools, and I encourage all Torontonians to enjoy the many options they have to cool off this summer."

Currently, 80 splash pads are open across the city until September 23. They operate daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. by push-button release. Splash pads are unsupervised water play areas, so caregivers are reminded to supervise their children at all times in these areas.
On June 29, more than 100 supervised wading pools will open for the summer. Each will operate on its own local schedule until September 2, weather permitting. Wading pools are shallow water areas located in parks. Caregivers are reminded to supervise their children at all times in these areas.
