City of Toronto processes refunds for fees paid for day camps, swimming and leadership programs | | | | |
The City of Toronto is refunding fees paid for City-run day camps, swimming and leadership programs which were scheduled to have taken place between June 22 and July 17.
Refunds will be given to those residents who registered for the 4,425 cancelled programs for 45,000 participants, most of whom are children. Refunds have already started and residents should receive their refunds by the end of the month.
"The City is pleased that we are able to start processing these refunds for those who missed out on attending scheduled day camps, swimming and leadership programs because of the CUPE strike. We understand that having to cancel City-run day camps and other programs has been a significant inconvenience for families," said City of Toronto's City Manager, Mr Joe Pennachetti.
The City will continue processing refunds for day camps, swimming and leadership programs which were scheduled to have taken place over the last month. All residents who paid by credit card will be credited, while those who paid by debit card, cheque or cash will receive a cheque in the mail and all cancellation fees, of course, will be waived. Residents who do not receive their refund by the end of the month can call Access Toronto at 416-338-0338.
This was made possible because of the implementation of a new way of processing the refund requests and a reallocation of resources.
As the strike continues, the City will continue to process refunds for programs that are cancelled. We are unable to process refunds for programs that have not yet been cancelled.
At present these will be the only refunds that the City will be issuing. All other refunds will be reviewed once the labour disruption ends. The City's current efforts are concentrated on maintaining as many City services as possible.
