Construction begins on York Community Centre
City of Toronto Councillor Jaye Robinson, Chair of the City of Toronto's Community Development and Recreation Committee (Ward 25 Don Valley West), Councillor Frank Di Giorgio (Ward 12 York South-Weston), Councillor Frances Nunziata (Ward 11 York South-Weston), and representatives of Parks, Forestry and Recreation will join members of the community to celebrate the start of construction for the York Community Centre.

Time: 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Location: York Community Centre, 115 Black Creek Dr.

The new centre will be the first-ever full-service community centre in the former City of York. It is expected to be completed by fall 2014 and will provide the community with a 6,503-square-metre facility featuring a double gymnasium, mezzanine running track, a six-lane 25-metre indoor training pool and indoor leisure pool. The facility is designed to LEED Silver standing and will meet Toronto's Green Standard Tier 1 level.
