Nominations close on Friday, January 13 for Toronto District School Board by-election
  



The by-election for the office of Trustee, Toronto District School Board (TDSB) Ward 17 - Don Valley East (City wards 33 and 34) and Ward 20 - Scarborough-Agincourt (City wards 39 and 40) will be held on February 27. The last day to file or withdraw a nomination is Friday, January 13 at 2 p.m. at the City of Toronto Election Services Office, 89 Northline Rd.

To be eligible to run in the by-election, candidates must be:
• a Canadian citizen, and
• at least 18 years of age, and
• a resident in the area of jurisdiction of the TDSB, and
• a public school supporter, and
• not legally prohibited from voting, and
• not disqualified by any legislation from holding municipal office.

Candidates must provide the following information when filing their nomination:
• a declaration of qualification
• proof of qualifying address within the jurisdiction of the TDSB, and
• $100 nomination filing fee (cash, certified cheque or money order made payable to “Treasurer, City of Toronto").

The City will issue a news release announcing the final list of candidates after nominations have closed. The final list of candidates for the 2012 by-election will be posted on the City's election website (http://www.toronto.ca/elections).
