City of Toronto to launch welcome booths for international students at Pearson International Airport
Councillor Michael Thompson (Ward 37 Scarborough Centre), Chair of Toronto's Economic Development Committee, and Chisanga Puta-Chekwe, Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration, will officially launch the City of Toronto's International Students Airport Welcome program with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Date: Monday, August 13
Time: 2 to 2:30 p.m. (remarks will be followed by a photo opportunity)
Location: Pearson International Airport, Terminal 1 International Arrivals area

Program sponsors will also be on hand to celebrate the launch, including:
Winnie Leong, Vice President, Multicultural Marketing, Scotiabank, Steven Sarfin, Senior Director, FIDO & Multicultural Marketing, Rogers Communications, Lorrie McKee, Director, Public Affairs and Communications, Greater Toronto Airports Authority.

The program, which will run until September 10, features welcome booths located in the International Arrivals areas of Terminals 1 and 3. International students can visit the booths to receive welcome kits containing information about transportation, accommodation and details about how to connect with their academic institutions. Students also have an opportunity to call home for free, courtesy of Rogers Communications.

The program is a City of Toronto initiative produced in partnership with the region's educational institutions, and is sponsored by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, Scotiabank, Rogers Communications, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority and Tim Hortons.
