Voters' list and proxy forms available for the Toronto District School Board by-election

The voters' list for the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) by-election on February 27, 2012 for TDSB wards 17 and 20 is now available.

Those who wish to confirm they are on the voters' list and are an eligible elector (voter) can call City of Toronto Election Services at 416-338-1111. To be added to the voters' list or if changes are needed, a Voters' List Amendment Application is available for download at http://www.toronto.ca/elections or can be mailed upon request. Changes to the voters' list may be submitted by mail before February 17 or in person up to the close of voting on election day, February 27.

Electors can still vote if they are not on the voters' list. Electors can show up at their voting place on any of the voting days with acceptable identification and their name can be added to the voters' list.

Proxy Voting Certificates

If an elector cannot vote, for any reason, on any of the available voting days, he or she may appoint someone as a proxy to vote on his or her behalf. The proxy must be someone who is an eligible elector in Toronto and who the elector trusts to vote in accordance with her or his wishes.

An elector may act on behalf of:
• one other qualified elector who is not a relative, or
• one or more qualified electors who are relatives, using separate proxy forms for each.

The City will mail proxy appointment forms to electors, which can be requested by phoning 416-338-1111 (TTY service 416-338-0889). Proxy appointment forms are also available from City Clerk's Office locations (listed below) Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. starting Monday, January 16 to election day, Monday, February 27, and during the advance vote, Saturday February 18 and Sunday February 19 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m.

City Clerk's Office locations for proxies:
• Election Services, 89 Northline Rd.
• North York Civic Centre, 5100 Yonge St., ground floor
• Scarborough Civic Centre, 150 Borough Dr., 3rd floor

The elector appointed must present both copies of the proxy appointment form in person along with acceptable identification of both the elector making the appointment (photocopies acceptable) and the elector appointed (original copy) to the City Clerk or designate for certification. A list of acceptable identification is available on the Toronto Elections website: http://www.toronto.ca/elections.

For further information call 416-338-1111 or visit http://www.toronto.ca/elections.
