Toronto's STOMP urban dance showcase - photo opportunity
  
Members of the media are invited to a photo op at a special dress rehearsal featuring contestants of the STOMP Urban Dance Competition/Showcase.

Date: Saturday, May 5
Times:
10 a.m. to 11 a.m. - Beginner teams
11 a.m. to noon - Intermediate teams
1:30 to 2 p.m. - Advanced teams
Location: Wellesley Community Centre, 495 Sherbourne St.

Styles of dance include step, breaking, hip hop, dancehall, jazz and contemporary. The event will also highlight Toronto’s up-and-coming youth bands, vocalists, rappers and dub poets.

STOMP Urban Dance Competition/Showcase features 425 participants from 6 to 24 years of age, many of whom who participate in City of Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation dance programs. Others are with groups that include private dance companies, community dance groups and showcase teams.

The 2012 edition of the annual STOMP event will take place on Sunday, May 27 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts in downtown Toronto (1 Front St. E.).
