Toronto's War of 1812 bicentennial commemoration - preview of program and events
Toronto City Councillor Michael Thompson (Ward 37 Scarborough Centre) will be joined by Blake C. Goldring, Chairman and CEO, AGF Management Ltd., to announce details of Toronto's War of 1812 bicentennial commemoration program and its many related events.

Councillor Thompson and Mr. Goldring are co-chairs of the City of Toronto's War of 1812 Bicentennial Commemoration Steering Committee, which is composed of prominent members of Toronto's business, heritage and cultural communities.

Time: 10:30 a.m.
Location: Members Lounge, Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen St. W.

The presentation will be preceded by a herald from a town crier accompanied by fife and drum. After the program announcement, Toronto group Muddy York will give 1812-era songs a contemporary twist.

Toronto's War of 1812 Bicentennial Commemoration will consist of hundreds of events and programs that will take place at multiple downtown locations throughout 2012 and 2013. Numerous cultural, heritage, military and community organizations are partnering with the City of Toronto to acknowledge the impact the War of 1812 had on the creation of Toronto and Canada.
