Toronto firefighter line-of-duty-death funeral
A lengthy battle with work-related cancer claimed the life of Acting Captain Sylvester “Sly” Maj on July 14. Toronto Fire Services and the Toronto Professional Fire Fighters' Association are assisting the family to arrange a full honours fire department funeral.

Location: St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 4260 Cawthra Rd., Mississauga (L4Z 1V8)

Maj, who was 60, joined Toronto Fire Services on April 29, 1991 and last worked at Toronto Fire Station 441, 947 Martin Grove Rd. His death brings the total to 226 firefighters since 1848 who have died in the line of duty while protecting lives, property and the environment in Toronto.
