Dress rehearsal of STOMP urban dance showcase
  
Members of the media are invited to attend a special dress rehearsal featuring contestants in Toronto's 2011 STOMP Urban Dance Competition/Showcase.

Date: Saturday, May 14
Times: 10 to 11 a.m. - Beginner teams
11 a.m. to noon - Intermediate teams
1:30 to 2 p.m. - Advanced teams
Location: Wellesley Community Centre, 495 Sherbourne St.

Styles of dance include step, breaking, hip hop, dancehall, jazz and contemporary, and the rehearsal will also highlight the city’s up-and-coming youth bands, vocalists, rappers and dub poets.

STOMP Urban Dance Competition/Showcase three weeks after the dress rehearsal will feature 325 participants ranging in age from six to 24 from City of Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation dance programs, external agencies, private dance companies, community dance groups and showcase teams. The event will take place on Saturday, June 4 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, 1 Front St. (at Yonge Street).
