Prescribed burn in Toronto’s High Park today
The City of Toronto's Parks, Forestry and Recreation division will undertake a prescribed burn - also known as a controlled burn - in High Park today. Media will be briefed before the burn.

Date: Wednesday, April 17
Time: 2 p.m. (briefing)
Location: Grenadier Restaurant parking lot, High Park
Directions: Enter the park at Bloor Street and follow West Road to the restaurant, or enter off Parkside Drive and turn right at first stop sign.

The burn is scheduled to begin by 2:30 p.m. and it will last until about 5 p.m., depending on weather conditions.

A prescribed burn is a deliberately set and carefully controlled fire that burns low to the ground and consumes dried leaves, twigs and grass stems but does not harm larger trees. The weather forecast predicts optimal conditions for a prescribed burn today.
