City of Toronto congratulates Lima, Peru on successful bid for the 2019 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games
  
Today, at its General Assembly, PASO President Don Mario Vázquez Raña announced that Lima, Peru will be the Host City for the 2019 Pan American/Parapan American Games.

“On behalf of Toronto City Council and the staff and residents of the City of Toronto, I offer my sincerest congratulations to Lima,” said Councillor Mark Grimes (Ward 6 Etobicoke-Lakeshore), Toronto's Games Champion. “Lima will be a wonderful host and we look forward to sharing our knowledge with them.”

The 2019 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games will mark the first time that Peru will host the games. The city of Lima has hosted numerous international sport events such as the 2013 Bolivarian Games, the 2013 South American Youth Games, FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2005 and many others.

Lima was selected from a final pool of four cities that included La Punta, Argentina; Santiago, Chile; and Ciudad Bolivar, Venezuela.

About the TORONTO 2015 Games
As Host City of the 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games, Toronto is preparing to welcome 10,000+ athletes, coaches, team members, sponsors and officials from 41 countries and up to 250,000 visitors to the city and surrounding area. Training and competition venues for the 51 sports to be featured will be located in 15 municipalities across southern Ontario. The Pan Am Games (July 10 to 26, 2015) and the Parapan Am Games (August 7 to 14, 2015) will be the largest multisport games ever held in Canada.
