Location of Public Inquiry into Computer Lease Contracts Announced
Corporate Services - The City of Toronto has allocated space at the East York
Civic Centre consisting of the former City Clerk's offices, the former Mayor's
Office, and the Council Chamber for use by the staff of the independent public
inquiry into the MFP Financial Services computer leases and other matters.

The public inquiry is being led by Madam Justice Denise Bellamy, who was
appointed in March as Commissioner of Inquiry by Mr. Justice Patrick J. LeSage,
Chief Justice of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Madam Justice Bellamy
is expected to announce the names of the Commission Counsels in the near future.

The East York Civic Centre is situated at 850 Coxwell Avenue and is accessible
by public transit.

The contracts that will be the subject of the public inquiry stem from late
1997 to 2000 when contract controls for the amalgamated City of Toronto were
not fully in place. Over the past year, the City's executive management team
has begun to establish more rigorous internal management controls to improve
purchasing processes, management of consulting contracts, human resources
management and the review of administrative internal controls.

On February 14, Toronto City Council passed a resolution, which included terms
of reference for the public inquiry and requesting that an independent public
inquiry into the City's computer and computer leasing contracts with MFP
Financial Services be conducted.
