Media Advisory: City to hold public hearings on literacy
  
To celebrate International Literacy Month and International Adult Learners'
Week (September 8 to 14), the City's Working Group on Language Equity and
Literacy, chaired by Councillor Maria Augimeri (Ward 9 York Centre), will hold
a community hearing on the status of literacy needs in the city.

Date: Friday, September 13

Time: 10 a.m. to noon

Location: York Woods Public Library, 1785 Finch Ave. W. (east
of Jane)

Adult learners are encouraged to come and make deputations. Translation service
is available by calling COSTI at 416-534-7400, ext. 229, or Councillor
Augimeri's office at 416-392-4021. Additional hearing dates will be announced
in the coming weeks.

The hearings are co-sponsored by the COSTI Education Centre, the Delta Family
Resource Centre, the Centre for Spanish Speaking Peoples, the Toronto Adult
Students Association and the City of Toronto.
