City gears up for busy 2002 cycling season at International Bicycle Show|

The Toronto Cycling Committee's (TCC) will officially launch its 2002 cycling
season at the 16th Annual International Bicycle Show.
Location: National Trade Centre, Exhibition Place, Hall A
Dates: Friday, March 1 (noon to 9 p.m.), Saturday, March 2 (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
and Sunday, March 3 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
On display throughout the weekend will be Toronto's Bike Plan, which was
developed to encourage and promote cycling through the year 2010.
The City of Toronto will also launch its new electronic cycling subscription
service over the Internet. Subscribers can receive information on community
events, meetings and the Bike Plan. Cyclists will be able to sign up at the
Bike Show for the service, or from home by visiting
Nominations can be submitted for the City's 2002 Bicycle Friendly Business
Awards. The City is looking for businesses that encourage cycling by employees
and/or customers. Seven awards are presented annually to businesses that
demonstrate leadership in the promotion of cycling.
Visitors to the booth can talk to TCC members about bicycle safety,
volunteering and the City's many cycling programs such as the Road and Trail
Safety Ambassadors, CAN-BIKE and Bike Week.
The TCC is a special committee of Toronto City Council. Its mandate is to
