Scarborough community celebrates Greek cultural and economic ties

Time: 1 to 4 p.m. (flag raising at 1 p.m.)
Location: Scarborough Civic Centre 150 Borough Drive (near Ellesmere
and McCowan Roads)

Florina Day commemorates the spirit of fraternization between the former City
of Scarborough and the City of Florina in the Province of Macedonia in northern
Greece. An annual event since 1983, the Florina Festival celebrates the
cultural and economic bonds between the two cities with a formal ceremony and
flag raising. Similarly, Scarborough Day in Florina is also celebrated with
reciprocal honour and cultural events.
