Great Big Sea To Perform Free Concert at Toronto Winterfest 2002
Toronto Special Events - Warner Music Canada's multi-platinum recording
artists, Great Big Sea will play a free concert on Saturday, February 9, 7:30
p.m. at Nathan Phillips Square as part of this year's Toronto Winterfest
presented by Shoppers Drug Mart. This rare free performance by one of Canada's
premiere bands, celebrates the much-anticipated release of their fifth CD, "Sea
of No Cares."

With three gold and multi-platinum albums, five East Coast Music Awards for
Entertainer of the Year and a stack of other awards to their credit, Great Big
Sea has consistently sold out to concert audiences across North America. Since
1993, this quartet has thrilled fans with its combination of traditional Celtic
tunes from their homeland of Newfoundland fused with today's modern rock
sounds. Having sold in excess of one million albums, Great Big Sea returns with
12 new songs on "Sea Of No Cares". The album features the hit title track, and
will be in stores February 19, 2002.

True North recording artist, Garrity will open this incredible Saturday night
concert. Boasting strong acoustic rhythms, harmonies and energetic stage
presence, their rootsy pop rock sound comes alive in their second release, "A
Day Away" with hit single, "Rain".

Great Big Sea is just one highlight of Toronto Winterfest 2002 scheduled for
February 8, 9 & 10. This incredible three day, indoor-outdoor festival is for
those who prefer to celebrate, rather than hibernate during the coolest season
of the year!

The festival is so jam-packed with non-stop things to see and do it takes two
winter wonderland destinations to showcase it all - the festival's North Pole
location at Mel Lastman Square and South Pole location at Nathan Phillips

The fun begins at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, February 8 at Nathan Phillips Square
with the Opening Ceremonies and continues throughout the weekend at both
festival sites from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9 and 10:00
a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 10 with a free pancake breakfast hosted
by Enbridge Consumers Gas to kick start each morning.

Ride the Rocket to both our festival sites! For Nathan Phillips Square located
at 100 Queen Street West, take the TTC Queen Street streetcar (501), or the
Yonge Line subway (exit Queen station) or the University Line (exit Osgoode
station). For Mel Lastman Square, take the Yonge Line subway (exit North York
Centre). Getting there couldn't be easier!
