Yonge Street sidewalk work begins next week

Works and Emergency Services - The City of Toronto's Works and Emergency
Services department is reconstructing sidewalks along Yonge Street as part of a
city-wide maintenance program.

Sidewalks on the east side of Yonge Street, from Richmond Street to Dundas
Street East, will be reconstructed from May 21 until the end of May, while
sidewalks and pavement along Dundas Square, from Yonge Street to Victoria
Street, will be reconstructed from the end of May until late June.

In addition, sidewalks on the south side of Dundas Street East, from Yonge
Street to Victoria Street, will be reconstructed from early June to mid-July
and the intersection at Dundas Street East and Victoria Street will be
re-aligned during this time.

It is expected that most of the work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.,
Monday to Friday. Some late night and weekend work may take place if necessary.

During construction, one lane of traffic in each direction on Yonge Street,
from Dundas Street East to Richmond Street, and one lane of traffic on Dundas
Street East, from Yonge Street to Victoria Street, will be maintained.
Pedestrians will have access to both sides of the street during construction,
and access to bus and subway stops, businesses, churches and residences will be
provided.
