The St. Lawrence Market hosts the 5th Annual Global Roots Festival September 20, 21, 2002|

The City of Toronto, the St. Lawrence Market merchants and the St. Lawrence
Market Neighbourhood Business Improvement Area have organized their fifth
annual Global Roots Festival, which will take place along Market Street on the
west side of the South St. Lawrence Market on Friday, September 20 and
Saturday, September 21.
The weekend kicks off at noon on Friday, September 20 with the World Music
Stage and the World Food and Crafts Pavilion. Visitors can enjoy musical acts,
sample food and view crafts representing the cultures of Ireland, Jamaica,
Barbados and Greece, among others.
On Saturday, September 21, the focus shifts to World Dance on the main stage.
The Community Folk Arts Council of Metro Toronto has lined up a traditional
dance program, which includes the Sisu Finnish Folk Dancers, the Harnasi Polish
Dancers, the Ukrainian Dance Academy and many more. Non-stop entertainment will
take place on the stage from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Admission to all Global Roots events is free.
The St. Lawrence Market Complex is located at Front Street East and Jarvis
Street in downtown Toronto. Parking will be available at the Toronto Parking
Authority lot at the south end of Market Street.
