City changes plowing plans to deal with freezing rain

The City of Toronto's Transportation Division has changed its plans for plowing
snow for the storm that hit the city early this morning.

The City will delay plowing local roads due to the forecast of freezing rain
that is expected to continue throughout this evening and into tomorrow morning.

"If we plowed the local roads now, as was originally planned, the roads could
become very slippery, resulting in dangerous driving conditions," said Gary
Welsh, Director of Transportation Services.

It is expected that instead of beginning this afternoon, crews will begin
plowing local roads after the evening rush hour, likely between 8 p.m. and 10
p.m. tonight. Plowing on local roads will be completed at approximately noon
tomorrow.

Welsh added that plowing continues on the main roads and will be completed by
early evening.
