Garbage and recycling collection resumes

The City of Toronto announces the schedule of start-up of garbage and recycling
collection and other solid waste management services.

Curbside residential collection of waste and recyclables will resume on the
first regularly scheduled pick-up date, beginning next week (week of July
15th). Residents should check their regular collection calendar for the date of their next pick-up and to determine what
materials they should set out at the curb. If scheduled for recycling pick-up,
residents should separate their recyclable materials and place those items in
their blue and grey boxes. Excess recycling materials may be placed in open
top containers such as cardboard boxes. Please secure your paper recyclables
to prevent blowing. Residents who do not have scheduled recycling pick-up next
week should keep their materials until their next scheduled recycling
collection.

Due to the high volume of recyclables expected, collection crews may fall
behind in their collection schedule. Residents are asked to leave their
recycling at the curb if it does not get picked up on their usual day. The
City will pick it up as soon as possible.

No yard waste pick-up will take place across the City, except in Etobicoke and
York. Etobicoke and York residents will receive yard waste collection as
specified in their existing collection calendar. Yard waste collection in the
rest of the city will begin at a later date.

Transfer stations will remain open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Commissioners St.
transfer station will remain open 24 hrs. The five temporary sites for
business and commercial waste will close at 7 tonight.

Other resuming solid waste management services:

  • Household Hazardous Waste collection will resume today (July 12th). Call 416-392-4330 to schedule a pick-up.
