The St. Lawrence Farmers' Market celebrates its 199th birthday|

The City of Toronto and the St. Lawrence Farmers' Market Association are
celebrating the market's 199th birthday at the annual Harvestfest on Saturday,
October 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Inside the North Market building, 95 Front St. E., in the large room next to
the stage, the Farmers' Market Association will host an open house reception
from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A cake-cutting ceremony will take place at 10 a.m., and
then, at 11 a.m. on the stage, CFRB's Marty and Avrum will tape their popular
"The Food Guys" radio show. Members of the public are welcome to stop by for
free cake and refreshments and learn more about the history and future of the
Outside in Market Lane Park, immediately west of the North Market, Harvestfest
events will appeal to the whole family. Pony rides, a petting zoo, children's
games and pumpkin-carving will keep family members active. Buskers and
professional pumpkin carvers will keep visitors entertained. The public can
also view a display of giant pumpkins and squash, some weighing more than 700
pounds, and meet the farmers who grew them.
The St. Lawrence Market Complex is located at Front Street East and Jarvis
Street in downtown Toronto. Parking will be available at the Toronto Parking
Authority lot, located at the south end of Market Street.
