Media Advisory: Toronto community councils host award ceremonies for Black History Month
  
Members of the media are invited to attend a series of ceremonies hosted by the
Community Unity Alliance that will recognize community members and City staff
for their contributions towards improving the lives of African Canadians in
communities throughout Toronto. Each City councillor will also be presented
with a black-history-theme poster to raise awareness of the long history the
African Canadian community has in Canada.

In line with Black History Month, the Community Unity Alliance-a group of 15
culturally diverse community agencies-will present a poster to the various
recipients at the following Community Council meetings.


Tuesday, January 29, 10 a.m.: Scarborough Community Council
Scarborough Civic Centre, 150 Borough Dr.

Tuesday, January 29, noon: Midtown Community Council
North York Civic Centre, 5100 Yonge St.
