City calls on residents for Toronto Election Finance Review Task Force
The City of Toronto is looking for volunteers to serve on the Toronto Election
Finance Review Task Force.

Established by City Council this year, the Task Force will examine all aspects
of municipal election campaign financing and make recommendations to City
Council by October 2003 on legislative amendments and process improvements that
will enhance the public accountability of candidates' municipal campaigns.
There are five public positions available:
- one position is a member representing the law community
- two positions are members of ratepayer or community groups with an interest
in municipal election campaigns, and
- two positions include residents of the City of Toronto with an interest in
municipal election campaigns.

In addition to the public positions available, five members of Toronto City
Council will sit on the Task Force, as well as two auditors with experience in
auditing the financial statements of municipal candidates; two college or
university professors with expertise in political science, local government
administration or urban studies; a representative from the Ministry of
Municipal Affairs and Housing; and a representative from Elections Ontario.
