Media Advisory: Flag raising ceremony marks National Aboriginal Day and the summer solstice
  
Members of the media are invited to attend a flag raising ceremony at City Hall
to mark National Aboriginal Day and the first day of the summer solstice, both
being June 21. The flag raising ceremony recognizes the role of the
Mississaugas of the New Credit in the history of Toronto, as well as other
Aboriginal peoples, such as the Métis and the new territory of Nunavut.


Date: Friday, June 21
Time: 5:30 a.m., sunrise solstice ceremony (no photography allowed)
6:30 a.m., flag raising ceremony (photography
permitted)
Location: Podium Roof, City Hall, 100 Queen St. W.


This ceremony is being sponsored by the City of Toronto Aboriginal Employees
Committee, the Law Society of Upper Canada and Scotiabank.
