Media Advisory: Toronto Fire Academy open house

Toronto Fire Services, in conjunction with the National Fire Protection
Association (NFPA) and all fire service organizations throughout North America,
will be recognizing Fire Prevention Week (October 6 to 12) with a variety of
interactive public events and activities.

Date: Wednesday, October 9
Time: 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Place: Toronto Fire Academy
895 Eastern Avenue

This year's theme "Team Up for Fire Safety" focuses on the need for people to
join firefighters as part of a fire safety team. Through this co-operative
approach we can be better prepared to prevent, and if necessary, survive a home
fire.

As in past years, the open house will focus on the family as a fire safety
team. Interactive activities are planned along with music, pictures with Sparky
the Fire Dog, apparatus displays, a barbecue and a live fire show. There will
be a variety of fire and life safety exhibits involving emergency services
staff, health care professionals and other members of the community.
