Taxicab Advisory Committee welcomes newly elected representative for independent taxicab owners

On August 14, the Taxi Industry Unit of the Municipal Licensing and Standards
Division conducted a bi-election in order to fill a vacant seat on the Taxicab
Advisory Committee (TAC). The bi-election was authorized by City Council to
fill the position of Independent Taxicab Owner representative after the
incumbent had resigned in March of this year.

There were two candidates who stood for election: Gurmail Dhir and Eugene
Meikle.

Richard Mucha, Manager of Taxi Licensing and Chair of the TAC bi-election,
reported that 467 taxicab owners were eligible to vote in the by-election.
There were 119 ballots cast with the following results:

Gurmail Dhir - 62
Eugene Meikle - 54
Spoiled - 3

The Taxicab Advisory Committee and Municipal Licensing and Standards Division
congratulate Mr. Dhir on his win and wish him well in his new position. They
also thank Mr. Meikle and those who participated in the election process.
