Toronto Mourns Passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother
  
The City of Toronto will provide an opportunity for residents to express their
condolences to the Royal Family starting the afternoon of Tuesday, April 2,
2002. Books of condolence will be placed at Toronto City Hall, Metro Hall, and
the Civic Centres for members of the public to extend their sympathies.

Mayor Mel Lastman said, "The Queen Mother demonstrated strength and character
at difficult times - she will be greatly missed and fondly
remembered by everyone." "We wish to extend our deepest condolences to the
Royal Family."

The flag at Toronto City Hall has been placed at half-mast and the flags at the
Civic Centres will be placed at half-mast commencing Tuesday.
