Media Advisory: New response protocol launched to help Toronto citizens living in "single room" housing

Over the past few years there have been several deaths of residents of rooming
houses and other "single room" housing as the result of fire and other
catastrophic events. A network of community organizations and City of Toronto
services has designed a new protocol to ensure some of Toronto's most
vulnerable citizens get the co-ordinated services they need during emergencies
such as fires or building closures. The Rooming House Emergency Response
Protocol will be launched at a special ceremony, which will include comments by
community organizations, elected officials and survivors of rooming house fires
and other emergencies.

Date: Wednesday, May 29
Time: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Place: Parkdale Activity-Recreation Centre 1499 Queen St. W.
