New members elected to the Taxicab Advisory Committee
Members of Toronto's taxi industry voted in a by election this week to fill two
vacancies on the Taxicab Advisory Committee (TAC). The TAC Election Committee
of the Municipal Licensing and Standards Division, Urban Development Services,
announces the following results.

Taxicab Owner Representative
Singh, Harvinder 270 (Elected) (69.6%)
Singh, Parminder 30 (7.8%)
Walsh, Wilma 62 (15.9%)
Spoiled 9

Total: 371

Taxicab Brokerage Representative
Taylor, Doug 16 (Elected) (94.1%)
Hakimzadah, Mohammed 1 ( 5.8%)
Spoiled 0

Total: 17

Total Votes Cast 388
Total Votes Eligible 2,229
Per cent Turnout 17.4

Through a consultative process, TAC members study, report and make
recommendations and submissions on matters related to the industry, its
regulators and the public it serves. The eight-member committee is composed of:
four Taxicab Driver representatives, two Taxicab Owner representatives, one
Independent Taxicab Owner representative and one Brokerage representative.

The TAC provides an industry-wide perspective and advice to the City on
taxi-related issues, with the ultimate goal of helping to move the industry
toward self-management.

The Taxicab Advisory Committee and Municipal Licensing and Standards welcome
the new representatives and thank all those who participated in the election
