Mayor Thanks Paramount for the Business

LOS ANGELES, CA. - Mayor Mel Lastman today met with executives from Paramount
Pictures Corporation to thank them for making movies in Toronto.

"Between 1992 and 2001, Paramount spent $555.1 million shooting in our City,"
Mayor Lastman said. "Anything we can do to keep companies like this investing
in Toronto is worth the effort - especially when so many jobs depend on it."

Film and television production spending in Toronto climbed from $700 million a
year to a high of $1.3 billion since the Mayor last visited the major Hollywood
studios. The industry currently employs more than 28,000 people who live in the
Greater Toronto Area.

Tomorrow, Lastman will be discussing waterfront revitalization with San
Francisco Mayor Willie Brown before a meeting with venture capitalists to
encourage investment in Toronto's growing biotech sector.
